Mary Margaret Schlup

Mary Margaret Schlup of Tipton, age 74, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Moniteau Care Center in California, Missouri.

Born May 20, 1941 in Clarksburg, Missouri to Freddie Lee and Ruth Hodges, Mary was one of 9 children.

Mary and Kenneth Boehlen were married June 7, 1959 and to that union four children were born.

Mary was a homemaker, loving her family first and foremost, but also spent several years as a hairdresser where she made lasting friends with her many customers.

On November 3, 1984, Mary and Lloyd Eugene Schlup were married and had almost 18 years together until he passed away on June 24, 2002.

When her grandchildren arrived, there was no end to Mary's love for each and every one of them. As she was privileged to babysit all of them from time to time, she made sure they were introduced to the outdoors and lots of sunshine. Some of the happiest times of Mary's family were Sunday suppers at her house. She loved cooking for her kids and grandkids.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Donald Hodges at age 2, sister Elizabeth Kendrick, brother-in-law Calvin Potter and grandson Brett Arnold.

Those surviving Mary are son Kelvin Boehlen and his wife Tricia; daughters: Marla Arnold and her husband Terry Joe; Rhonda Hees and her husband Dennis; Regina Orscheln and her husband David, all of Tipton, Missouri; brother Henry (Bud) Hodges and his wife Ina Jean of Clarksburg; sisters: Carolyn Hoffstetter and her husband Kay of Tipton; Dora Ashal and her husband John of Clarksburg; Virginia Schmidt and her husband Darrell of Tipton; Lois Embry and her husband Bill of Tipton; Debbie Potter of Tipton: brother-in-law Lee Kendrick of Prairie Home; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mary Margaret Schlup to be held Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Cowboy Church east of Tipton, Missouri on Highway 50. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at 10:00 am also at the Church. Interment will follow services at Hickman Cemetery in Clarksburg, Mo.
