Mary Ricketson, age 80, of Gravois Mills, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2023, at her home.
She was born December 6, 1942, in Alabama to Loran Greschum and Willie Pearl (Tucker) Windham, becoming one of the "Tucker Girls".
She married David Ricketson in 1960, who preceded her in death.
She graduated at the top of her class from Prince William and Mary Nursing School. After graduating she worked in many different departments learning as much as she could. She was very proud of her work at Orange County Correctional where she worked for thirteen years. She ended her long career as a hospice nurse, getting the privilege to care for those at the end of their lives.
Mary was very strong in her walk with God, everything she had went in his hands. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her good and kind nature.
She received her mom's green thumb and had flourishing flower gardens and some vegetables too. "Miss Mary" was the nickname that those who knew her well came to call her. She liked fishing, collecting angel and bird figurines, especially hummingbirds. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family.
Those left to carry on Mary's legacy are her two sons, Derek Ricketson (Jill Nagle) and Michael Ricketson all of Gravois Mills; four grandchildren, Tahg "Scooter" Ladewig, Zachariah Ricketson, Erin Moore, and Hailey "Bug" Ricketson; two great grandchildren, Patience and Josslyn; three step granddaughters, Angela, Dana, and Christina; twelve step great grandchildren with one near and dear to Mary's heart, RyLee; along with other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; and her siblings.
She will be cremated. Services will be planned for a later date.
