Mary Christina Martin

Mary Christina Martin, age 91, of Stover, passed away early Friday morning, July 22, 2016, at her home.
She was born July 28, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, a daughter of George and Maud Cashman Frye. Mary was united in marriage to Don Martin on July 24, 1946, in Kansas City and he preceded her in death in January of 2002.
For most of Mary's life, she was a homemaker, busy raising her family.
In 1978, at the age of 54, Mary received her bachelor's degree and two years later received her Master's degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
She was a member of the St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Kansas City. After moving to the Stover area, she attended the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cole Camp, where she was active in the quilting guild, as long as her health allowed.
Mary enjoyed reading books, watching TV westerns, especially Gunsmoke, quilting, and living the country life on her place near Stover.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Wayne Martin and wife Leslee of St. Augustine, Florida and Joseph G. "Joe" Martin and wife Christine of Olathe, Kansas; a son-in-law, Don Campbell of Stover; one brother, George Frye and wife Sally of Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, along with other relative and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Theresa A. "Teri" Campbell, one brother, John Frye and two sisters, Genevieve Rogers and Deborah Weber.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cole Camp with Father Callistus Okoroji serving as Celebrant.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church on Thursday.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kansas City.
