Mary Alline Thornton Crawford, age 83, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016, at St. Josephs Bluffs in Jefferson City, surrounded by her children.
She was born January 5, 1933, in Columbia, Missouri a daughter of Clifton Charles and Mary Lorean Finley Thornton, both deceased. On July 25, 1950, Mary was united in marriage to Loral Cornealious "Neal" Crawford, who preceded her in death October 2, 1990.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Kay and Clint Giesler of Land O Lakes, Florida; Carol Gay and Marvin Fred of Russellville and Lois Fay and Craig Brace of Mexico, Missouri; one brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Patty Thornton of Columbia, Missouri; five grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew Smith of Annapolis, Missouri; Collin and Katie Brace and Evan and Rachel Brace all of Nashville, Tennessee; Lillian Brace of Denver, Colorado and Leslie and Michael Hendren of St. Louis, Missouri; three great grandchildren, three nieces, five nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Robert E. Thornton in March of 2003, one niece and one nephew.
Mary served as Postmaster of the Russellville Post Office for 25 years, before retiring in October of 1992. She was co-owner of the Crawford Feed and Farm Supply for many years with her husband, Neal. She also owned and operated HobbyTime Ceramics for many years.
She was a 63 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Secretary and past Worthy Matron of the Russellville Chapter and most recently a member of the Victoria Chapter #14 in Jefferson City. Mary was a member of the Cole Springs Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, April 17, at the Scrivner- Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville, with the family receiving friends from 2:00 pm until service time. Interment will be in the Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville.
