Marvin H. "Junior" Gregory, age 73, of Lee's Summit, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at his son's home, where he had been residing for the past two years.
He was born May 29, 1937, in Morgan County, a son of Otis and Mary Elizabeth Webb Gregory.
Junior was an Army veteran, serving his country with two tours of duty in the Korean War.
For most of his life he was an independent over-the-road truck driver. He was also an accomplished welder and mechanic.
Junior enjoyed going to auctions and doing odd jobs for neighbors and friends. He could often be seen at the Gamber Senior Citizens Center, where he volunteered. He was very thankful to be a 25 year survivor of throat cancer, who even though his speech was limited, stayed busy helping others.
Survivors include two sons, Chester "Dean" Gregory and his significant other, Russell Looney of Lee's Summit and Marvin "Leroy" Gregory of Running Springs, California; a sister, Margurite Mae Dickey, of central Missouri; two grandchildren, Terrance Leroy Gregory and Shayla Renee Gregory; also nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, a stepmother, Mae Gregory, his wife Cindy Gregory in 2007, three brothers, Jerry Gregory, Chester Lee Gregory and Harold Dean Gregory and two sisters, Charlotte Maxine Berry and Patricia Ann Smith.
Graveside services, with military funeral honors, will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 10, at the Stover Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1:15 P.M. until 1:50 P.M. at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
