Marlene Kay Wilbanks, age 71, lifelong resident of Stover, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday morning, November 18, 2014, at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born February 27, 1943, in Stover, a daughter of Deo and Esther Bauer Warnke. She was baptized April 4, 1943 and confirmed August 12, 1956 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover.
Marlene was a 1961 graduate of Morgan County R-I High School in Stover.
On September 30, 1961, Marlene was united in marriage to James H. "Jim" Wilbanks at the Stover United Methodist Church. Jim survives at their home.
At one time Marlene worked for Brown Shoe Company and Empire Gas, both located in Versailles. She later worked at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover and for the Morgan County R-I school district, where she had been a cook and retired as a special services aid. She truly enjoyed spending time and working with the kids at the school.
She was a member of the Stover United Methodist Church.
Marlene was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching the Stover Bulldogs, Kansas City Chiefs, Mizzou Tigers and most of all, cheering on her beloved St. Louis Cardinals.
She enjoyed sewing, going to garage sales and helping her husband with their wide assortment of holiday yard decorations.
Most of all, Marlene was devoted to her family. For many years she cared for her parents and sisters; while being a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband of 53 years, she is survived by three children, Todd Wilbanks of Stover; Tori Merriott and husband Tom of Lebanon and Teather Bellis and husband Jared of Stover; eight grandchildren, McKayla Anne, Mariah Jae and Maxlyn Sage Wilbanks, Taylor Jaudes and husband Bobby, Tyler Merriott and Tanna Dawn, Kyp James and Jaylea Kay Bellis, her mother-in-law, Mary Wilbanks, two brothers-in-law, Joe and Mike Wilbanks, along with other relatives and many friends.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Tana Beth Wilbanks, two sisters, Ruth Ann Warnke and Carolyn Marriott and her father-in-law, Rev. P.H. Wilbanks.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, at the Stover United Methodist Church with Cory Garr and Rev. Diane Cutler officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Stover United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
