Mark E. Thomas, age 30, of Jefferson City, died Monday, August 9, 2010, due to injuries sustained in an accident in Millersburg.
He was born October 5, 1979, in Hamburg, Iowa, a son of Wayne Carl and Stephanie Slota Thomas.
On November 4, 2006, at the Ha Ha Tonka State Park near Camdenton, Mark was united in marriage to Jamie Alpers, who survives at their home.
At the time of the accident he was a foreman for Hentges Tree Service in Jefferson City, where he has been employed for the past seven years. He was a certified Peace Officer, and previously worked in Worth County, located in northern Missouri.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Versailles.
Mark loved being outdoors where he could fish, hunt, go boating, ride four wheelers, or take on any adventure that would come his way. He also enjoyed singing Karaoke and having a good time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Vered and Alex Thomas of the state of Montana; Tyler Vogt of Clinton; Conner Alpers and Trevor Strange of the home; his mother, Stephanie Thomas of Versailles; a maternal grandfather, Walter Slota of Phoenix, Arizona; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Donna Thomas of Versailles; Daniel and Jeanelle Thomas of Stover and Jordan and Amber Thomas of St. Charles; two sisters and a brother-in-law Michelle and Chris Ousley of Russellville and Rachael Thomas of Versailles; his father-in-law, Paul Alpers of Clinton; his mother-in-law, Janet Alpers of Versailles; a brother-in-law, Brent Alpers of Versailles; fourteen nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Carl Thomas, his maternal grandmother, Vaudine Slota, his paternal grandparents, William Ray and Gladys Thomas and an uncle, Wendall Ray Thomas.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 14, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Versailles with Rev. J.J. White and Rev. Bill Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Versailles Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
Friends will be received from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, August 13, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mark E. Thomas Memorial Fund % Central Trust Bank, Attn: Kathy Crow, PO Box 779, Jefferson City, MO 65102.
