Marilyn Koechner, age 93, of Tipton, MO, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2022, at SSM St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, MO.
Marilyn was born May 6, 1929, in Vernon County, MO, the daughter of Rev. Lemuel F. and Mary Belle (Price) Ryan, who preceded her in death.
On September 15, 1947, she married Frederick F. Koechner in Tipton.
Marilyn worked as a rural letter carrier for twenty-three years delivering mail and gum. She also served as a 4-H leader for 49 years teaching sewing and cooking skills to her children, grandchildren and many 4-H’ers through the years. She loved to travel and would take advantage of any opportunity to experience new places. She was active in the University Extension Council, Rural Letter Carriers Association, Cub Scouts, Learning In Retirement and the Friends of Maclay. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tipton where she taught Sunday School, WMU, and helped with Vacation Bible Schools.
Marilyn was known for her homemade pies, they were requested often. She loved to read Louis L’amour and Zane Grey books, crocheting Afghans, dollies and names. You would often find her in the flower and vegetable garden and loved to share her crops.
Survivors include two sons, John Koechner (Judy) and Mike Koechner (Renee), both of Tipton; four daughters, Pat Arl (Keith) of Green Ridge; Joyce Scrivner (Randy) of Jefferson City; Karen Ogalsbee (Dennis) of Florence; and Marna Williams of Tipton; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters Marie Schrier and Ruth Pettigrew. Three brothers John, Glenn and Charlie Ryan and one son in law Allen Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2022, at Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home, Tipton, MO, with Rev. Jared Rivera, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moreau Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eric Franken, Jason Battles, Christopher Scrivner, John Franken, Shaun Bradshaw, and Dakota Koechner.
The honorary pallbearer is Jessie Ogalsbee.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Friends of Maclay or First Baptist Church Tipton.
