Margaret “Marge” Shaw Carrington, 92, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 at Bishop Spencer Place, Kansas City, Missouri.
Marge was born June 28, 1924 in St. George, Kansas to Robert & Eva Shaw. After graduating St. George High School, she moved to Kansas City, Kansas where she fell in love and married Edward Roy Carrington on February 6, 1942.
In 1947 Marge & Ed moved to The Lake of the Ozarks, where they owned and actively operated Two Waters Resort in Gravois Mills, Missouri for 60 years. Marge continued to reside there until 2014 when she moved to Kansas City to be closer to family.
Marge was a wonderful wife, mother, fabulous cook, champion fisherman, a friend to many, and witty and wise until the day she passed. During the 1960s and early 1970’s she gave the weekly Lake of the Ozarks fishing report on Harold Ensley’s KCMO radio broadcast, as well as appeared many times on Ensley’s TV show, The Sportsman’s Friend.
She was an active leader in the Gravois Arm Lake Association and, in addition to running the resort with Ed, she also enjoyed a retail career at Wini’s Fashions and Sun & Fun in Laurie, Missouri.
Marge was preceded in death by husband, Ed, in 2010; daughter, Ruth Ann Carrington; her parents; her two brothers Bob Shaw and Don Shaw (Shirley); and sister, Betty Scafe.
Survivors include daughter, Mary Carrington-Harris (Mark) of Kansas City, Kansas; special nephew, Ken Boyer (Barbara) of Jupiter, Florida; sisters Mildred Goehring of Manhattan, Kansas and Marilyn (Bob) Workman of Riverside, California; extended family Bob Shouse of Sunrise Beach, Missouri and Rob & Karen Exon of Topeka, Kansas; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
A Celebration of Marge’s life will be Saturday, November 12, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, 210 E. Jasper Street, Versailles, MO 65084 with a reception beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will immediately follow in the Oak Park Addition of the Versailles Cemetery.
