Louis "Sonny" Kroeschen

January 12, 1937 — August 7, 2015

Louis A. "Sonny" Kroeschen, age 78, of Kansas City, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015, at the St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City following a three month illness.

He was born January 12, 1937, on the family farm in Stover, a son of Edwin and Mattie Windler Kroeschen. He was baptized March 7, 1937 and confirmed May 13, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church-Pyrmont.

On November 4, 1961 in Florence, Sonny was united in marriage to Laverne Cramer and to this union one son was born.

Sonny attended Hinken School and was a 1954 graduate of Stover High School.

After high school Sonny worked construction in the Stover area before moving to Kansas City in 1956, where he worked for General Motors for a short time. Sonny took a job with Bekins Moving Company, learning the moving trade. After six years with Bekins' he decided to start his own company, Louie's Moving and Delivery, and for the next 35 years he met the needs of moving items for large companies in Missouri.

Sonny enjoyed the outdoors, working on thrashing crews and hunting, fishing and trapping with his dad and grandpa. He always had tomatoes, either home grown or given to him.

Survivors include one daughter, Lee Angelia Kroeschen; one step daughter, Jana Marie Turpin and husband Bill; one sister, Rosie Brown of Raytown; a nephew, Dwayne Brown of Kansas City; a niece, Teresa Hoehns of Lincoln; a great nephew, Travis Davis of Raytown; one great niece, Rachel Brown Turner of Raytown and three grandchildren.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, his son, Louis A. Kroeschen, Jr. on July 26, 1979, his longtime friend, Lena Stone; a brother-in-law, Harvey Brown, one brother, Otto Edwin Kroeschen and one sister, Minnie Kroeschen.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, at Christ Lutheran Church in Stover with a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Tom Tuura will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
