Loretta Ida Kempf, 93, of Pilot Grove passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Katy Manor.
Loretta was born August 9, 1922 to John Christopher and Emma Coletta Newman Kempf at their home in the Clear Creek community.
She worked for the Selwyn Shoe Company for 32 years and then for Artex in Boonville for 12 years until her retirement in 1987.
Loretta was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove and volunteered with her church Altar Sodality and the quilting club there. She also volunteered at Katy Manor with resident activities and coordinated OATS transportation in the Pilot Grove area for many years. She loved quilting and gardening and shared her talent with many family and friends.
She was affectionately known as Sis to her family and many others. Playing cards, dominos, and games with family and friends was a favorite pastime. She loved children and doted on her many nieces and nephews and their children. She was a good friend to many.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Edward, Carl, Norbert, and Lawrence; sister Alice and an infant sister.
She is survived by her sister Dorothy Kempf Young of Salisbury, Missouri; sister-in-law Patricia Kempf of Pilot Grove; 10 nieces; 13 nephews; 47 great nieces and nephews; and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Friday, February 26, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, Missouri with burial immediately following in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday at the church with Rosary beginning at 5 PM.
