Lon (Nashoba) Edward Gilson, age 46, passed away early Saturday, February 16, 2019 at home in Boonville, Mo.
Lon was born November 28, 1972 to Lewis E. and Suzanne Gilson in Columbia, Mo. He was raised in Boonville along with his twin sisters Carmen and Karen. He graduated high school in Boonville and then attended Kemper Military Academy and College, Central Missouri State at Warrensburg and State Fair College in Sedalia, achieving two Bachelor's Degrees. He also received his Master's Degree from Missouri University. Lon was an outdoorsman; loved fishing, studying nature, trees and plants. Even though he was fascinated by snakes, he absolutely did not want to be near a spider. He also loved horses, especially his horse "Toots". He was very adept at computer skills and games, especially at games requiring puzzle solving.
Lon spent several years driving trucks for a living and worked for a local business, Archangel Transportation. He recently got off the road and had been working for Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville in food preparation.
Lon had four children that called him Dad. He was consistent in his discipline and also the love shown to all of them. Neither did he show favoritism when it came to teasing. He loved to tease.
Preceding Lon in death were his parents, Lewis and Suzanne Gilson.
Those surviving Lon (Nashoba) Gilson are his wife LaDonna; sons Thieman, Norman and Patrick; daughter Ashley; grandson Zayden; sisters Carmen Lindsey and Karen Dick; sister-in-law Marlana Griffitt and her husband Stacey and Jackie Cole; brother-in-laws J.R. Yakel and his wife Millie, Jason Yakel and his wife Nina, Cody Yakel and Alex Yakel; mother-in-law Molly Goodwin; father-in-law Dean Yakel and his wife Carlene; a brother by choice, Matthew Lindsey and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Lon Edward Gilson will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Pilot Grove Community Church. A private family burial will immediately follow the service.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Pilot Grove, Mo.
