Elaine Petree

Lois Elaine Petree, age 71, of Tipton, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. She was born on August 15, 1953, in California, MO, the daughter of Eugene and Lois (Scherff) Cassil, who preceded her in death. On July 9, 1971, Elaine married the love of her life, William "Bill" Lee Petree, at Annunciation Catholic Church in California, MO. Together, they built a family full of love, laughter, and cherished traditions.

Elaine graduated from California High School in 1971 and later worked in customer service at COMO Electric for many years. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was known for her selflessness, always putting the needs of others before her own. Elaine took great pride in caring for her home, making improvements, sewing, and cooking for her family and the farm workers.

As a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Elaine was a dedicated volunteer and a devout Catholic, living her life with grace, faith, and a steadfast devotion to her community and her beliefs.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Bill; three children, Shelley Lynn Higgins (Zane), Stephanie Kaye Knipp (Cory), and Timothy William Petree (Andrea), all of Tipton; two brothers, Charles Cassil (Kathy) of Albuquerque, NM, and Philip Cassil of Jamestown, MO; nine grandchildren, Rachel Newkirk (Chad Ward), Dawson Knipp, Kaylee Higgins, Hudson Knipp, Eli Higgins, Gabriela Petree, Deklon Knipp, Kasen Petree, and Johanna Petree; and one great-grandchild, Scotlyn Ward.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Cassil, and her son-in-law, Scott Newkirk.

The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. at the Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Tipton, MO. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in California, MO, with Father Anthony Viviano officiating. Burial will follow at Moreau Cemetery in Tipton. 

Honorary pallbearers are Gene Cassil and Brent Cassil.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Andrew Catholic School or the Tipton Nutrition Center.

In loving memory of a life well-lived, Elaine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
