Lois Eloise Mahoney, 88, of Tipton, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Tipton Oak Manor.
She was born on July 24, 1927 in Winfield, Kansas to Donald and Naomi Buss. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing and was an LPN at Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia, MO. She later met and married Quinten Morgan, and together they had three children: Donald, Judy and Mary. As an army wife, Lois traveled a lot until they settled in Leavenworth, KS. She was an LPN while living at Fort Leavenworth, KS, and worked in Civil Service filling a variety of occupations during her time there.
Lois later met and married the love of her life, Raymond Jarowitz, with whom she would move to Tipton to be closer to her parents. Ray passed away in October of 1972. After her loss, she became active in the community by volunteering with the American Legion. She also worked in Insurance and Real Estate. In 1980, Lois was diagnosed with breast cancer and survived.
Lois was very busy, but always had time for her family. When she retired she loved spending time in her yard growing all kinds of plants and sharing her green thumb with others. She loved making quilts for family, friends, neighbors and always for newborn babies! But her most favorite pastime was breeding and raising her dogs (Chihuahuas, Jack Russells, and Toy Terriers). She raised hundreds of them over the years.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Murray with her husband Tom, Leavenworth, KS; Mary McClelland with her husband Charles of Tipton; and daughter-in-law Jan Morgan, Reno, NV; as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Kirchner and her husband Wilbur, Nixa, MO; and Donna Pritchard of Belen, NM, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, her son, a grandson, and most recently her brother Donald Buss. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 23,2016 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton, with visitation being held from 10:00 to 11:00AM prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Tipton, MO.
