Leroy Frank Smith

Leroy F. Smith, age 89, of Russellville, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veteran Hospital in Columbia.
He was born April 5, 1921, in Russellville, a son of John G. and Lydia B. Hiittenmeyer Smith. On August 4, 1945, in California, he married Nelda Scott, and to this union seven children were born. Nelda preceded him in death February 22, 1993. On September 8, 1994, he married Osie "Neva" Proctor Hogg, who preceded him in death February 26, 2007.
Leroy was a 1940 graduate of Russellville High School, recently attending his 70th class reunion. He was an Army veteran, serving his country in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer in the Russellville area. Leroy was a longtime member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Russellville, where he was Sunday School Superintendent and an Adult Sunday School Teacher for many years. He currently was a member of the Enon Baptist Church near Russellville. As a young man, he was known as a "Jack of all Trades", always ready to work on any project or tackle any job that came his way. In later years he stayed busy woodworking. He also enjoyed mowing his yard and going for drives.
Survivors include six children and their spouses, Dale and Linda Smith, Jefferson City; Dennis and Lee Smith, Russellville; Barbara and Garry Crocker, Russellville; Darrel and Helen Smith, Mary's Home; Darwin and Beverly Smith, Russellville and Brenda and Joe Eickhorst, Russellville; son - in-law, Frank Procter, Olean; eighteen grandchildren, Sarah (Jay) Otto, Scott (Leigh Ann) Smith, Eric (Sarah) Smith, David (Laura) Crocker, Donna (Chris) Albright, Daniel (Sarah) Crocker, Darin Crocker, Brian (Amanda) Smith, Todd Smith, Sandra (Barry) Crawford, Dustin (Melissa) Smith, Angela (Jeff) La Croix, Karen (Brian) Prenger, Travis (Stephanie) Smith, Tonya Hilderbrand,
Kristi (Matthew) Owens, Chad (Natalie) Eickhorst and Kelly Ann Procter, 36 great grandchildren, Kali and Kaleb Earls, Abigail Otto, Colton Smith, Austin and Logan Smith, Nicholas and Maci Albright, Preston, Hunter and Taylor Crocker, Megan Crocker, Tristyn and Adam Smith, Hailee and Gaven Smith, Luke and Jack Crawford, Mallorie, Allee, Kloe and Jison Smith, Issac, Benjamin and Hannah LaCroix, Trevor and Chase Prenger, Emma and Bryan Smith, Marshall and Preston Hilderbrand, Morrigan Kubiak, Andersyn Owens, and Mitchell, Lydia and Megan Eickhorst, also several brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leroy was also preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Beverly Procter.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 28, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church on Route AA near Russellville. Interment, with military funeral honors, will be in Enloe Cemetery west of Russellville.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Friday, August 27, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville.
