Leoma M. Rowland

Leoma M. Rowland, age 92 of Stover, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
She was born September 7, 1921, in Gravois Mills, a daughter of William Peter "Pete" and Amanda Elizabeth "Lizzie" Marriott Silvey. On February 2, 1947, Leoma was united in marriage to Forrest H. Rowland, by Rev. Val Strader. Forrest preceded her in death October 18, 2000.
Leoma attended the Brushy (Webb) and Gravois Mills Country Schools.
As a young girl she cared for her mother, who had become ill. Through the years Leoma was employed at Tweedies Manufacturing, as head cook for the Morgan County R-I school, a cook at local restaurants, as a Wal-Mart greeter and at the pant's factory in Tipton.
She was known for her talent in the kitchen, winning many ribbons and awards at local, county and at the State Fair for cooking and canning.
She was baptized in the Baptist church. Following her marriage she joined the Stover United Methodist Church, where she remained a faithful and active member until her health failed her.
Leoma was a member of the Stover Cemetery Board, the Homemakers Club, the Garden Club and the Galloway-Martens American Legion Post 343 Auxiliary in Stover.
Survivors include three children, Brenda Rowland of Stover; Steve Rowland and wife SueAnn of Overland Park, Kansas and Craig Rowland and wife Maureen of Stover; five grandchildren, Stephanie Halley and husband Jason, David Rowland, Allison Rowland, Patrick Rowland and wife Megan and Cara Silvey and husband Mike, seven great grandchildren, Elise and Ana Halley, Ella Rowland, Brett, Mia and Michael Rowland and Gerrit Silvey, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, Lawson Silvey, Lester Silvey, Flossie Heppard, Rena Fischer, Vina Shultz Workman and Marshall Silvey, a brother-in-law, Clifford Rowland and a grandson, Brandon Rowland.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, at the Stover United Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Cutler officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Stover United Methodist Church, the Golden Age Living Center or the Stover Cemetery.
