Lela Mae Edzards

Lela Mae Edzards, age 70, of Stover, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 2, 2013, at her home.
She was born December 26, 1942, in Procter, a daughter John L. and Clara Mae Raines Davidson, who preceded her in death.
On May 4, 1962, at the Stover First Baptist Church, Lela was united in marriage to Larry J. Edzards, who preceded her in death March 30, 2012.
She was a 1960 graduate of Stover High School.
Lela worked alongside her husband as the bookkeeper in their family business, Edzard's Implement in Stover and for many years she was secretary and clerk for the Stover First Baptist Church.
She was a faithful, active member of the Stover First Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible school for many years. Her Vacation Bible school ceramics' activities were a favorite among the kids who attended every summer. She also served on the nominating committee at church, as well as supporting many other projects and activities. Most recently she was spearheading a group to begin a local soup kitchen at the church. In addition to her local church activities, she and Larry worked tirelessly with Rev. John Farris on the Lake of the Ozarks puppet ministry, traveling around the Lake on a pontoon boat, sharing God's message to the many people who vacationed there each year.
She was a member of the Central Missouri Sheep and Goat Marketing Group. Lela also had a green thumb when it came to growing African Violets.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Dr. Lindell "Lindy" Reed of Blue Springs; Dr. Vicki Edzards-Wang and Dr. David Wang of Medford, Oregon and Monica and Scott Marshall of Stover; three grandchildren and their spouses, Tara and Chris Titus of Independence; Tesa and Joseph Guevel of Grain Valley and Tyler Reed of Blue Springs; two great grandchildren, Kylie and Kaylynn Titus, along with other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Stover First Baptist Church with Dr. Lindell Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the church on Thurdsay. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Lake Ozark Regional Ministries.
