Leila V. Bremer, age 79, of Florence, passed away, Saturday, September 17, 2016, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was born February 26, 1937, in Whiting, Iowa, a daughter of Lester G. and Gladys Anderson Dawes. Leila was united in marriage to Monte A. Bremer on March 9, 1963, in Sedalia. Monte preceded her in death August 2, 2009.
She was a 1956 graduate of Stover High School.
As a young women, she worked in Kansas City for several years. After starting her family, she was a homemaker, busy raising two children. She later worked at the Morgan County R-I school district in Stover as a school cook.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Florence.
In her younger days, Leila played softball and even coached. She was known for her creativity, and kept her hands and mind busy crocheting, sewing and collecting family heirlooms. Her greatest enjoyment came from her family and friends. She and Monte would spend endless hours playing cards, listening to music and dancing.
Survivors include two children, Sherain Gray of Stover and Gerald Bremer and wife Paris of Otterville; five grandchildren, Sydney, Garrison, and Aric Gray and Christian and Megan Bremer, Along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Leila was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be Saturday September 24th 10:30 at St. John United Church of Christ in Florence with Pastor Larry Gallamore officiating. Interment will be in St. John UCC Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 on Friday the 23 at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.
