LeAnne E. Dale, age 81, of Stover, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
She was born October 6, 1933, in Stover, a daughter of Walter and Hulda Fajen Alpers. She was baptized October 15, 1933 and confirmed March 30, 1947, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover. The confirmation verse chosen was Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
LeAnne was united in marriage to Melvin Dale on February 20, 1955, and to this union three children were born, Rita (Sidebottom) and Turner Bond and her children, Stephanie and Casey Cochran, children Colby, Camren, Keaton and Kalysa and Gregg and Sharon Sidebottom, children Gabby, Wyatt and Waylon; Kenny and Beth Dale and their sons, Asher and Ana Dale, children, Lily and Kenneth and Jesse and Katy Dale; and Tom and Lora Dale and their sons, Jeremiah Dale, daughters Gracie and Mia and Isaiah Dale.
She was a graduate of Stover High School.
LeAnne retired from the Morgan County R-I school district in Stover, where she worked as a school secretary for many years.
She was an active and faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover, where she had belonged to the Jr. Ladies Aide and attended weekly Bible Study.
She also served as an ombudsman at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
LeAnne was never one to be idle. She stayed busy working on embroidery projects, cooking, sewing, and caring for her family. She loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; whether it was reading to them, playing puzzles, or just rocking them on her lap. She looked forward to "hanging out with her ladies" playing Rummikub, dominoes, and talking with them. Sunday was family time when she cooked many Sunday dinners for her family. Family and faith were the centerpiece of her life.
In addition to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, LeAnne is survived by a sister-in-law, Evelyn Alpers of Stover and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, one brother, Robert Alpers, one sister, Donice Oehrke and a brother-in-law Glenn Oehrke.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stover with Pastor Gerald Kurka officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with a Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m.
