Laverna June Zimmerschied age 72, of Mora, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012, at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born June 6, 1939, in Florence, a daughter of Clarence and Anna Wiecken Schroder, both deceased.
Laverna was baptized and confirmed at the Florence United Methodist Church in Florence.
On January 4, 1959, at the Florence United Methodist Church, Laverna was united in marriage to Donald Zimmerschied, who survives at their home.
She was a 1957 graduate of Stover High School.
Laverna and Donald owned and operated Green Meadows Dairy, Inc., in Mora. She was also a homemaker, busy raising her four children, as well as working alongside her husband in their dairy business. For many years she took on the responsibility of raising the calves at the farm. For a few years Laverna worked at as temp at the Florence Post Office.
She was a faithful member of Brauersville Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, where she was active in the Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed quilting, making blankets and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. However, her greatest enjoyment came from being with her family. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren, which she documented by writing poems and creating journals about the time they spent together.
In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by three children, Donna Bell and husband Brice of Tipton; Vic Zimmerschied of Sedalia and Brian Zimmerschied and wife Tracy of Mora; a son-in-law, Brent Harms of Ionia; a brother, Milton Schroder and wife Myrna of Stover; two sisters, Dorean Case of Stover and Waneta Dudley of Overland Park, Kansas; twelve grandchildren Kayla, Alexa and Ryder Bell, Shallie, Josie and Devon Harms, Brittainy, Clinton, William and Savannah Zimmerschied and Candance and Jeremy Stone; four great grandchildren, Austin, Christian, Adalyne and Cameron, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jill Harms.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, at Brauersville Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Banner officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
