Laura Caroline Steinmeyer, age 99, of Stover, died Sunday, December 27, 2009, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was born March 10, 1910, in Stover, a daughter of Henry Fred and Louise Brandt Alpers. On March 1, 1931, at her parent's home, Laura was united in marriage to August Otto Steinmeyer. He preceded her in death June 12, 1991.
She was a homemaker, busy raising her family and helping on the family farm. In Laura's spare time she enjoyed piecing quilts together. However, her greatest enjoyment came from the time she could spend with her family.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover where she was a member of the Senior Aid.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon Steinmeyer and wife Betty of Sugar Creek and Kenneth Steinmeyer and wife Betty of Independence; three daughters, Berniece Hoppen of Belton; Kathleen Phelps of Stover and Joyce Acton and husband Ed of North Kansas City; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, eighteen great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Marlin W. Steinmeyer, two sons-in-law, Kenneth Hoppen and Clay Phelps, four brothers, John, William, Jake and Carl Alpers, two sisters, Hannah Steinmeyer and Minnie Beckmann and four grandsons.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 30, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover, with Rev. Cecil Murdock officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Stover.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time at the church of Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
