Larry “Henry” Schupp, 81, of Pilot Grove, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at Katy Manor, surrounded by his family.
Born November 4, 1940, at the family home in Pilot Grove, he was one of six children of Harlan and Alice (Lammers) Schupp.
Larry was a 1958 graduate of Pilot Grove High School. From 1960 to 1965, he worked at Lammers Elevator. He served in the Army Reserves active duty from 1962 to 1963, and continued in the Reserves for 5 ½ years.
On May 8, 1965, in Martinsville, he was united in marriage to Barbara (Twenter).
From 1965 to 1984, he worked for Orscheln Bros. Trucklines. From 1984 to 1986, he worked for ANR Graves Trucking. From 1986 to 1995, he worked for Yellow Freight, for a combined thirty years in trucking. He retired on June 30, 1995. He also farmed on the side.
Larry served on the Co-Mo Electric Board from 2001 to 2014. He was a member of the American Legion, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was a 50-year member of Knights of Columbus, where he served as Grand Knight. He was also on the Martinsville Cemetery Board.
Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing, was outgoing, and never met a stranger.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Barb, of the home, and their children: Rick and wife Deanna of Ashland, MO, Kevin and wife Jennifer of Ashland, MO, and Mike and wife Joni of Pilot Grove, MO; grandchildren: Chase, Kaden, Gage, Kolton, Trinity, Jared, Emily, Dylan and Alec; sisters: Bernice Eichelberger and Marilyn Gerling (Dave); sisters-in-law: Peggy Schupp and Selma Schupp; and brother-in-law, Clifford Innes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Jerry Schupp, Margie Innes and Bill Schupp; and brother-in-law, Roy Eichelberger.
Prayers of the Rosary will be said at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pilot Grove, with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the church, with Fr. Derek Hooper officiating.
Casket bearers will be grandsons: Gage Schupp, Jared Schupp, Kolton Schupp, Chase Schupp, Kaden Schupp, Dylan Schupp and Alec Schupp.
Honorary bearers will be granddaughters: Emily Schupp and Trinity Schupp.
Burial with military honors will be in St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Martin’s Cemetery Association.
Arrangements are in the care of Meisenheimer-Page-Dady Funeral Home in Pilot Grove.
