Larry N. Hartman, age 65, of Stover, Missouri died unexpectedly, Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City.
He was born April 20, 1944, in Iowa, a son of Jacob Thomas and Mildred Miller Hartman. On October 26, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Larry was united in marriage to Mary Ann Chabak and she survives at their home.
Larry was employed at Linn Candy in Marion, Iowa for 24 years. After moving to the Stover area he went to work at Gates Rubber Company in Versailles, retiring after fourteen years of employment. He also enjoyed working on his cattle farm near Stover.
He stayed busy attending gun and knife shows, hunting, fishing, camping and auctions. He was an avid animal lover and was especially fond of his dog Gunner and his cat Mr. Gray.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry J. and Paula Hartman of Anamosa, Iowa and Chad and Tassie Hartman of Versailles, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Mark LaBarge of Monticello, Iowa; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jerald and Sharon Hartman of Florence, Missouri; Ron and Sharon Hartman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Dan Hartman of Stover; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Don Hines and Wanda and Larry Stotler all of Marion, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Josh Fuller and wife Meagan, Ben Fuller and Sabrina LaBarge all of Monticello, Iowa; Laura Hartman and Justin Gearhart of Clarinda, Iowa; Jesse Hartman and Chase Hartman of Anamosa, Iowa; and Tyler Hartman and Michael Hartman of Versailles, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Michael, Zoiie and Willow, also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dean Hartman and two sisters, Alice Hartman and Joy Chubick.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 18, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Steve Robinson officiating. The recorded selections of "Finally Home" by Mercy Me and a medley of "Amazing Grace/Amen/When the Saints Go Marching In" by Boots Randolph of the saxophone will be played.
Interment will be in the West Lawn Addition of the Versailles Cemetery with Clark Bauer, Andy Laas, Steve Mosher, Jerry Capps, Joe Nash and Larry Stotler serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 17, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
