Larry D. Crocker

July 27, 1950 — September 29, 2016

Larry Dale Crocker, age 66, of Russellville, passed away suddenly, Thursday morning, September 29, 2016, at his home.
He was born July 27, 1950, in Jefferson City, the only son of Jesse and Virginia Strobel Crocker, who preceded him in death. On January 31, 1970, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville, Larry was united in marriage to Judy Rockelman, who survives at their home.
He was a 1969 graduate of Russellville High School.
In 1969, Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country until receiving his honorable discharge in 1981, retiring for medical reasons.
Larry and Judy returned to the Russellville area, where they raised their family, and grew strong bonds with their community.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville, where he helped maintain the church grounds and building.
Never a man to sit still, he used his numerous talents to lay tile, build fences and landscape, transforming his yard into an oasis. Larry loved being outdoors and spent many hours hunting and tending to his property. Everyone in town looked forward to his Christmas display, which he would begin to assemble in October, and became a family tradition for many years in the Russellville community. When he wasn’t working he would be driving around town in his shiny red truck, stopping and visiting with friends and strangers he met along the way. Family was the most cherished aspect of his life. Moments spent with his children, Renee and Shawn, were especially important to Larry. In addition, some of his fondest times were spent with his grandson Jesse, cheering him on at all his sporting events.
In addition to his wife of 46 years, he is survived by two children and their spouses, Renee and Chad Daniel of Lohman and Shawn and Caitlin Crocker of Florissant; grandson, Jesse Daniel and a second grandson who is due in December; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jon Denley of New Jersey; a half-sister, Jessie Hoomalu of Hawaii, along with aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville with Pastor Ed Merckel officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 2, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church for church repair and improvements.
