Larry Edmund Bauer, age 71, of Stover, died Thursday, December 31, 2009, at Boone Hospital in Columbia.
He was born June 20, 1938, in Stover, a son of Edmund and Alyce Conley Bauer, both deceased.
On May 18, 1958, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover, Larry was united in marriage to Joan Stucker and she survives at their home.
He was a 1956 graduate of Stover High School.
Larry co-owned and operated the family business, the Stover Milling Company.
He was a lifelong member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover, where he sang in the choir, had served as chairman of the Church Council and had led the Bethel Bible Series. He was a former member of the Stover Lions Club. He was a member of the Stover Chamber of Commerce and Rolling Hills Country Club in Versailles. Larry also served on the Stover Betterment Council, and was instrumental in the building of the Stover Community Center. He and Joan were Grand Marshals of the Stover Christmas parade a few years ago.
When his health allowed, Larry enjoyed pheasant hunting. He was an avid golfer and Mizzou Tiger Fan. He also enjoyed the time he could spend at the lake house and going to Arizona. However, his greatest enjoyment came from the time he could spend with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Kenny Dale of Stover; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenan and Gaylene Bauer of Stover; a sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Eric Robinson of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Asher and Jesse Dale and Desirae and Spencer Bauer; nieces and nephews, Brad and Lori Bauer and children, Jensen, Blake and Bryce, Scott and Tara Bauer and children, Brenden, Emily and Hannah, Seth Robinson and son Grant, Amelia and Chris Washington and children, Colton and Alyce Jo, Mindy and Trevor Stokes and children Kennedy and Lane, Abby and Blake Smith and daughter, Makenzey, sister-in-law, Joyce Bauer, also, Joan's family, Jean Hagedorn and family, Vernita Fischer-Garber and family, the Ardella Fischer family, the Arlene Kolm family, and the Lavera Kipp family, and many friends.
Larry was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tamra Jane Bauer, and a brother, Jim Bauer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 4, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover with Rev. John Kiehl officiating. Interment will be in the Kipp Addition of the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 3, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, with a prayer service at 4:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Christ Lutheran Church in Stover or the Martin Luther Home.
