Kenneth J. Schroder

Kenneth J. Schroder, age 87, of Florence, passed away, Saturday, February 15, 2014, at his home.
He was born August 6, 1926, on the family farm in Florence, the only son of Joseph and Alice Hilderbrandt Schroder. On April 20, 1958, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Stover, Kenneth was united in marriage to Armilda Witte, who survives at their home.
He was a cattle, hog and crop farmer, working alongside his sons on the family farm. Kenneth was a lifelong, faithful member of the Florence United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School treasurer, Trustee and Historian.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Marlene Schroder, David and Kathy Schroder and Daniel and Jenelle Schroder all of Florence; one sister, Pearl Helman of Independence; six grandchildren, Andrew Schroder and fiancée Alyssa Sager, Samuel Schroder, Amy and Ashley Schroder and Jessica and Justin Schroder, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Eva Stevenson, Mildred Strodtman and Ruth Ploeger. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, at the Florence United Methodist Church with Rev. Jorge Arvelo officiating. Interment will be in the Florence United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Florence United Methodist Cemetery.
