Kenneth L. Bender

Kenneth L. Bender, age 70, of LaMonte, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at his home.
Ken was born January 12, 1946, in Esbon, Kansas the only son of Cecil G. and Ida May Headley Bender. Ken was united in marriage to LaVera Nolting on August 17, 1963, at St. John United Church of Christ in Florence. LaVera survives at their home.
Kenneth was a construction superintendent, working on commercial buildings in Missouri and in his younger years he worked for Blood Construction in Tennessee and Texas; retiring from the J.E. Dunn Corporation in Kansas City.
Kenneth enjoyed working with wood and concrete, going to air shows, fishing and rooting for the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. His love for music lead him and LaVera to open and operate the Osage Jamboree country music show in Warsaw for several years. His passion for comedy lead him to the stage as Joe P Snickerbottom. Ken and LaVera loved to travel and looked forward to spending the winter in Alabama and Mississippi. However, his greatest enjoyment came from the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Andrew Fisher of LaMonte and Cindy and Jason Seaton of Independence; one sister, Opal Blake of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Justin Bender and Missy, Adam Peepo and Cassidy Peepo, Sean Wolfe, Emily Seaton, and Hunter Fisher, four great grandchildren, Rori Mae Bender, Tucker, Tatum, and Tinley Peepo, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Bonita Bender, Violet Zurmiller, and Cora Bauman.
A Celebration of Kenneth's life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover, 204 W. 3rd St Stover, MO 65078. Inurnment will be at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
