J.T. Hull

J.T. Hull, age 85, of Versailles, died Monday, March 21, 2011, at St. Joseph's Home in Jefferson City.
He was born April 23, 1925, in Barnett, a son of Grover Cleveland and Mary R. Routon Hull. J.T. was united in marriage to Anna Laura "Annie" Campbell on May 19, 1945, in Kansas City. Annie preceded him in death April 12, 2008.
He was a graduate of Barnett High School.
After J.T. and Annie married, they moved to Kansas City, where they worked for General Electric. They returned to Versailles and purchased Tops Café and the Tiger Grill, which they owned and operated until 1956, when J.T. , at the request of some local citizens, was encouraged to run for Sheriff of Morgan County. For the next 16 years, J.T. was not only the sheriff but a personal representative of Law Enforcement in the community. He, along with his trusty German Shepherd "Fritz", made many appearances at the schools, providing learning opportunities about safety to the local students. Sheriff Hull was always available to assist the local citizens of Morgan County and the surrounding areas. He truly enjoyed being a public servant.
In 1973, J.T. and Annie purchased the Montgomery Ward Store in Versailles, which they owned until 1977, when J.T. took a position with the Missouri Division of Liquor Control, where he was an agent until retiring in 1998.
J.T. was proud to work in and serve his community. He helped found the Rolling Hill Country Club, was a member of the Lions Club, the Versailles Masonic Lodge and the Westminster Presbyterian Church. He never met a stranger and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with people. In later years he enjoyed tinkering around the house, working in his yard and caring for his beloved Annie.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kim and Greta Hull and Tim and LaDonne Hull all of Jefferson City; one brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Gleynelle Hull of Bridgeton; two sisters, Geraldine Dunstan of Eldon and Maxine Gangwish of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, Chris, Amy, Adrienne, Paige, Julia, Quintin, Jordan and Emma, four great grandchildren, Harrison, Daniel, Chase and Berkeley Anna, also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Emil Joe Hull, James Hull and Donald Leo Hull and one sister, Willi Louis Hull.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 25, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Versailles with Chaplain Jim Mueller officiating. Interment will be in the Greenmore Memorial Gardens in Barnett.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 24, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.
