Joyce K. Menning Raps, age 52, of Smithton, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, at John Knox Care Center, Lee's Summit.
She was born July 2, 1958, in Sedalia, a daughter of Arthur and Blanche Stucker Grupe, both deceased. On February 5, 1977, she married Jeffrey L. Menning, at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont. Jeff preceded her in death September 16, 1987. She married Kenny Raps on August 21, 1991, in Topeka, Kansas and he survives at their home.
Joyce was a 1976 graduate of Smithton High School. At the time of her death she was employed with Inter-State Studios in Sedalia, where she had worked for several years.
She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont, where she remained a lifelong member.
Joyce enjoyed working on many craft projects, scrap-booking, shopping, watching HGTV and game shows, doing puzzle books, and playing board games. However, her greatest enjoyment came from being with her family, especially her grandsons.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three children and their spouses, Jeff and Elisa Menning of Sedalia; Jennie and Kevin Hemme of Pleasant Hill and Michelle Menning of Sedalia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, LaVera and Jim Miller and Geri and Larry Oehrke all of Stover; two grandsons, Dominic and Landen, also nieces and nephews, Kelly, Chris, Marilyn and Jamie, great nieces and nephews, Matthew, Dylan, Alivia, Alexis, Holly, Blake, Faith and Lorelai, also other relatives and many friends.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church at Pyrmont with Rev. Jim Banner officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 21, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
