John Allen Singer, 78, of Tipton, Missouri passed away unexpectedly at Capitol Region Medical Center in Jefferson City Saturday, February 17, 2018. He was one of 2 children born to John Henry and Bessie Eleanor Singer in Latham, Missouri.
On September 28, 1960, John and Lois Jean were married in Latham, Missouri. Soon after the wedding they moved to Monett, Missouri where they resided for only a few years before relocating and spending the remainder of their over 57 years together in Tipton, Missouri. They were blessed with two sons who both knew their Dad as a man with a strong personality; strong faith based beliefs; a very good husband to their mother and a teacher of good work ethics to them. John was proud to be known as a born again and spirit filled Christian.
Besides the love for his family, John was passionate about his work. He was well known nationwide as a premier fabricator , mechanic and successful engine builder and also as the owner of Singer Racing Engines. In 1994 John was inducted into the Knoxville Speedway's Hall of Fame. As recent as June of 2017, he was also inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. He built the first stock block Chevrolet engine that qualified for Indianapolis 500 in the early to mid '70's. Retirement never came for John because his love of what he was so talented in doing was not work and as long as he could build an engine, he was in the garage doing just that.
Preceding John Singer in death were his parents and his brother David Singer who passed away December 30, 2015.
Those surviving John are his wife Lois Jean Singer of Tipton; sons Craig and his wife Laura of Wichita, Kansas and J. Keith and his wife Dianna of New Franklin, Missouri; grandsons Coty of Republic, Missouri, Nicholas and wife Alyssa of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, John of Topeka, Kansas, Christian and his wife Sheridan of Bunceton, Missouri, Luke of Wichita, Kansas and Carson of New Franklin, Missouri; great grandchildren Jaden, Ella and Evie of Shawnee Mission, Kansas and Harlow and Hawkins of Republic, Missouri.....all Singer's.
