John Wallace Posey

John Wallace Posey, 85, of Kearney, Missouri, formerly of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, Missouri.

Born on September 26, 1931 in Decatur, Alabama to William and Ollie Posey, John was one of five children.

John was inducted into the US Army in 1949 and served his country in Korea during wartime. He moved to Missouri in 1955 and was a spray painter with Divine Lighting in Kansas City, Missouri before coming to Versailles and eventually moving to Syracuse in 1987. During those years he was an assembly line worker for Fasco.

On November 2, 1958 John married Neoma Nadine Broyles Powell and spent the next 55 years together until her death January 19, 2014. He liked spending time hunting, fishing and farming which included raising cattle and hogs. He was a man who loved the outdoors.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Neoma; an infant daughter Patricia Ann Posey; a brother William Posey, Jr. and a sister Louise Luker.

Those surviving John are his sons Tim Posey and Mickey Powell and his wife Denise of Kearney, Missouri; daughters Ann Reuter and her husband Mark of Silva, Illinois and Jennifer Kaiser and her husband David of Thornton, Colorado; a brother Joe Posey and his wife Barbara of Florida and sister Bernice White and her husband Rufus of Bruton, Alabama; grandchildren Amber Pulley, Tyler Bryan, Rob Bryan, Tracey Babbitt, Michael Powell, Carrie Sandburg, Nicole Dickey, Ronnie Posey, Donnie Posey, Chris Posey, Sherry Davenport, and Jena McNaughton; 10 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton with burial following in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Clarksburg. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the North Care Hospice House or the Alzheimers Association.
