John W. Hally

John W. Hally, age 79, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
He was born May 8, 1934, in Franklin County, Kansas, a son of John Ed and Hulda C. Carlson Hally. On October 21, 1965, in Miami, Oklahoma, John was united in marriage to Laura Pearce McClanahan, who survives at their home.
John had been a truck driver and retired as an inmate boss with the Kansas Department of Corrections.
He was a member of the Locust Baptist Church south of Stover. After moving to Versailles, he and his wife attended the First Baptist Church in Versailles.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by one son, Thomas McClanahan and girlfriend Donna Peacor of Ivy Bend; a granddaughter who was raised as a daughter, Melissa McClanahan of Versailles; one sister, Ida Wilson of Richmond, Kansas; two additional grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cindy Cook, four brothers, Carl, James, Silas and Thomas Hally.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, at the Versailles Cemetery with Dr. Todd Forman officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:20 p.m. at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.
