John Lesley Davidson

June 6, 1918 — May 9, 2010

John L. Davidson, age 91, of Stover, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at University Hospital in Columbia.
He was born June 6, 1918, in Camden, County, a son of Newton Sanford and S. Katherine Brown Davidson. On January 18, 1939, in Versailles, John was united in marriage to Clara Mae Raines and she preceded him in death January 28, 1996.
As a young man he farmed and was instrumental in installing the first sewer system in Stover. He worked for several years at Cooper's Store, before retiring from Sousley DX station, both located in Stover.
Following his retirement he assisted his son-in-law in his business.
John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stover.
He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, working in his yard, tinkering with small engines and spending time with his grandson-in-law, Scott and his friend, Joe.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lela and Larry Edzards of Stover; three granddaughters and their husbands, Annette and Dr. Lindell Reed of Blue Springs; Dr. Vicki Edzards-Wang and Dr. David Wang of Medford, Oregon and Monica and Scott Marshall of Stover; three great grandchildren, Tara Titus and husband Chris, Tesa Reed and Tyler Reed, one great-great granddaughter, Kylie Titus, also other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, John was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bill Davidson and one sister, Erma Sidebottom.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13, at the First Baptist Church in Stover with Dr. Lindell Reed and Rev. Travis Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13 at the First Baptist Church in Stover.
