J.H. "Junior" Kumberg

Jewell H. "Junior" Kumberg, age 73, of Versailles, passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 5, 2012, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
He was born November 17, 1938, in the Birmingham community in Clay County, a son of James Harley and Florence Opal Marriott Kumberg. On October 19, 1962, in Jasper, Arkansas, Junior was united in marriage to Mary Helen Breen Hibdon, who survives at their home.
Junior was a carpenter by trade, working throughout all of Mid-Missouri. He was also a lifelong farmer, who enjoyed spending time on his farm tending his cattle.
He was a member of the West Union Baptist Church south of Versailles and served on the Ritchie Cemetery Board for many years.
When he wasn't working, Junior could be found hunting with his coon hounds.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Joan Hibdon of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania; James and Lisa Kumberg and Danny and Melissa Kumberg all of Versailles; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sara James, Diane and Eddie James and Tammy Kumberg all of Versailles; eighteen grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren, with number 43 due in March, his first great-great grandchild who is also due in March, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Rebecca Ballard, two brothers, William Jackson "Jack" Kumberg and Jesse James Kumberg, and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. Interment will be in the Ritchie Cemetery south of Versailles.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ritchie Cemetery.
