Jerry Dean Watring

Jerry Dean Watring, 78, of Fortuna, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover. He was one of 14 children born near Otterville to Frank and Annie Watring.

On August 10, 1957 Jerry married Sue Mertgen and they were the parents of three children. In 1987 he married Delores who survives of the home.

Jerry was a bulldozer operator, an occupation that he loved. He was a great "visitor" always enjoying conversations with friends and neighbors. You would usually find him outdoors either working in his garden or other hobbies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Sue; brothers John, Jack, Jim, Ed and Jewell Watring; sisters Lillian, Mildred, Annie, and Maggie; infant siblings Leonard and Mary.

Jerry is survived by daughter Debra Helmig of Otterville; sons Terry and Billy Joe Watring of Florence; brother Jay Watring of Tipton; sister Ruby Knipp of Tipton; sister-in-law Verna Mae Watring; grandchildren Christy, Shannon, Shawna, Brittany, Ashlea, Terri Dawn, and Laci; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 28, 2016 at St. John United Church of Christ in Florence. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Saturday, February 27th at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton.
