Jerene Arleen Oswald

Jerene Arleen Oswald, age 87, of Russellville, passed away, Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Jefferson City. She was born November 5, 1925, near Russellville, in Moniteau County, a daughter of the late John and Clemma Binkley Van Pool. On October 17, 1948, at the Russellville Baptist Church, Jerene was united in marriage to Edmund R. "Ed" Oswald, who preceded her in death October 28, 1999. Jerene worked for United Telephone Company and Westlake's Ace Hardware in Jefferson City. She later worked at Campbell's Mini-Mart in Russellville. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville.
Ed and Jerene resided in Mexico from 1952-1978, when they made Russellville their home. Survivors include one sister, Helen Schneider of Jefferson City; two nephews, Gene Schneider and Doug Van Pool, two nieces, Claudia Pawley and Diana Schaffner, along with other relatives and friends. Jerene was also preceded in death by one brother, Claude Van Pool. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville with Pastor Edward Merckel officiating. Inurnment will be in the Enloe Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Tuesday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Enloe Cemetery.
