Jamie Danice Proctor, age 53, of the Enon community, south of Russellville, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at her home.
She was born February 5, 1957, in Decatur, Georgia, the only child of the late Dr. James "Hank" and Lois Rains Cason.
In 1975, Jamie graduated from Shamrock High School, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri in 1979, and a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Lincoln University in 1984.
As a kindergarten teacher for 31 years, Jamie touched the lives and laid the educational foundation for numerous local students, first at North Elementary in Holts Summit, then at Belair Elementary, finally retiring from Cedar Hill Elementary in 2009. She lived her life by the motto: "To teach is to touch lives forever."
On May 30, 1982, Jamie was united in marriage to Marvin D. Proctor at the Enon Baptist Church in Enon. He survives at their home.
She enjoyed the time she could spend with her family and friends, reading, caring for her flowers, beading and crocheting.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind one son, Benjamin J. Proctor of Holts Summit; her father and mother-in-law, Marvin E. and Gloria D. Proctor of Russellville; stepdaughters, Melissa Simmonds and husband Jason of St. Peters and Mechille Lauck and husband Jeff of Arnold; also five step-grandchildren, Trae Diebold, Justice Simmonds, Gabrielle Simmonds, Monica Zigrang and Jackson Lauck, also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, at the Enon Baptist Church, 55754 Hwy A, located in the Enon community south of Russellville, with the Rev. Mark Phillips officiating. Interment will be in the Enloe Cemetery, Route C, west of Russellville.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 30, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, 5414 Simpson St., Russellville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Special Learning Center Foundation.
Special thanks for Dr. Khojasteh, all the JCMG oncology nurses and staff and the St. Marys Health Center Oncology and Palliative Care Units, who provided such compassionate care for Jamie over the last two years.
