James Eugene Welch Sr.

James E. Welch, Sr., age 59, of Jefferson City, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 16, 2015 at his home.
He was born January 3, 1956, in Santa Paula, California, a son of James Ernest and Melba Margaret Baughman Welch.
Jim was employed with the Missouri Depatment of Corrections, retiring as recreation supervisor.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Brian Gates of Cairo; a daughter-in-law, Erin Ridings of Jefferson City; a half sister, Anne Jefferson of Jefferson City and four grandchildren, Zayn and Atlas Welch and Jasmine and Blake Gates.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and one son, James "JayJ" Welch, Jr.
A Celebration of Jim's life will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the Capital City Christian Church in Jefferson City. In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated.
Private inurnment will take place in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Russellville.
