James B. Hyer, 68, Stover, died Monday, August 11, 2008, at St. Marys Health Center in Jefferson City.
He was born December 23, 1939, in Hollandale, Miss.; a son of Barton and Lavern Newton Hyer.
On March 28, 1968, in Arkansas, he married Louise Adams.
He owned and operated Hyer Transport and was a turkey farmer
north of Stover for more than 20 years.
He was a member of Darlove Baptist Church in Darlove, Miss.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being on his farm, where he could visit with family and friends on his patio. He also enjoyed his time as a truck driver, especially his trips to Canada.
He is survived by his wife Louise Hyer of the home; his mother, Lavern Hyer of Darlove, Miss.; two sons, Ron Hyer and wife Connie and James L. Hyer all of Stover; two brothers, Jerry Hyer and wife Kay and Fred Hyer and wife Ronnie all of Darlove; one sister, Charlotte Huntley and husband Jack of Benoit, Miss.; five grandchildren, Brandon Johnson and wife Tara, Mason Johnson, Misti Davison, Melinda Davison and Mary DeLaney and two great grandchildren, Ryan and R.J.
He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter, Demisha Armbruster.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 15, at the Calvary Baptist Church west of Versailles. Contributions are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church.
In keeping with Mr. Hyers's wishes, he was cremated.
