James "Jim" Delano Hibdon, age 66, of Stover, Missouri, passed away at his home Sunday morning, March 25, 2012. Jim had been ill and in pain for quite some time and he was tired. He expressed he was ready for the Good Lord to call him home. Jim was born on October 8, 1945 in Versailles Missouri, the 4th child of eight born to Doris and Willie Allen Hibdon. He was a graduate of Stover High School. He moved to Belton, Missouri, where he worked in construction for a few years before joining the Army. He served his country as a mechanic in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post in Lee's Summit, Missouri and the Galloway-Martens American Legion Post 343, in Stover. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Indian Hills Association at the lake. He loved to hunt and fish. More than catching fish, he loved to fry fish. Jim was a local resident who could often be found at the Circle M restaurant or at Casey's ordering a Supreme Pizza, light on the sauce. He is survived by four sons, Steve Hawk and wife Julie of Belton; William Hayes of Belton; Danny Hibdon and wife Kelly of Peculiar, Missouri; and Shane Hibdon and wife Kristina of Belton; three brothers and two sisters, Jerry Hibdon and wife Kay of Stover; John Hibdon and wife Cheryl of Belton; Joe Hibdon and wife Nancy of Peculiar; Joyce Blue and husband Dale of Raytown, Missouri; and Janice Sidebottom and husband Raymond of Barnett, Missouri, fourteen grandchildren, Steve Jr., Shawn, Jennafer, Dustin, Shane, Skyler, Jessica, Ashley, Shasta, Cole, Zaron, Shaylee, Abby, Delano, five great-grandchildren, Darby, Brody, Parker, Easton, Rowdy, also nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jane Hibdon and Judy Goodrich. Jim's sons and wives would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Jerry Hibdon, and Randy Randall both, of whom looked after Jim.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at the New Life Assembly of God Church, 22139 Highway 52, Barnett, Missouri 65011. A Memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Barnett with Rev. Janice Sidebottom officiating, with military funeral honors rendered after the Memorial service.
