James W. Connelly, age 83, of Versailles, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.
He was born February 2, 1925, in Cincinnati, Ohio a son of Patric and Dorathy Waters Connelly. On June 30, 1951, in Cincinnati, he was united in marriage to Ann Theresa Abrams and she survives at their home.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran, serving his country during World War II, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Connelly was a chemical engineer for the Procter and Gamble Corporation, in Cincinnati Ohio and Iowa City, Iowa.
In 1973, the Connelly's purchased the Castaway Resort in Sunrise Beach, which they owned and operated for five years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Terri Connelly of Versailles; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathie and Bill Blomberg of Versailles; four grandchildren, Jamie and Jesse Blomberg and Josh and Austin Connelly, also other relatives and friends.
In keeping with Mr. Connelly's wishes, he was cremated. Arrangements were under the direction of the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Versailles.
