James C. Carlson, age 76, of rural Barnett, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 15, 2018, at his home, three days before his 77th birthday.
He was born November 18, 1942, in Norwalk, Connecticut, a son of Harry and Margaret (Barry) Carlson.
Jim was united in marriage to Angie Yaourtoglou in 1982 in San Diego, California. Angie survives at their home.
He retired from AT&T as an engineer after more than 30 years of employment. His advanced computer expertise came from studying at AT&T Bell Laboratories and Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey, and several advanced courses at Duke University, learning cutting edge engineering and computer technology.
After retiring, he and Angie were looking for a place that felt like home; which led them to Morgan County. For the past 21 years he and Angie have resided near Versailles; where he owned and operated DataCom, providing computer services to many businesses and families in the Mid-Missouri area.
His love of electronics led to a hobby of making and flying radio controlled airplanes and drones and his attention to detail was evident in the museum quality ships that he enjoyed building and displaying. He also enjoyed drinking coffee at the local coffee shop, swapping stories and enjoying the friendship.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James Carlson of Norwalk, Connecticut and Robert Mitchke of Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law: Therese Pallares of Coronado San Diego and Leana and Brian Bell of San Diego; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Kathy Carlson of Connecticut; three grandchildren, Tiffany Carlson and Jacob and Gracie Bell; along with other relatives and a host of friends.
Jim was preceded in death by parents, one daughter, Marie Studwell and one brother, Bob Carlson.
In keeping with his wishes he will be cremated. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date.
