Jack Springer, age 90, of Stover passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the Osage Beach and Rehabilitation in Osage Beach.
On September 17, 1929 in Nashua, Iowa he was born to Henry “Hank” and Nora Simmons Springer.
He was a tremendous athlete in high school and went on to take classes from Rutgers University.
He served in the United States Air Force during Korea.
Jack worked as a senior executive director of alcoholism in northeast Iowa and went on to work for Teamsters Business Agent for Local 838. He retired to the Sedalia area and from there retired south of Stover twelve years ago.
Up until just recently, Jack still went hunting and fishing. He worked outdoors and in his garden. He enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by three children, Deborah Furler and husband Rick of Van Horne, Iowa, Mike Odem of Sedalia and Stephen Springer of Arizona City, Arizona; two brother Jim and Jerry Springer both of Janesville, Iowa; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends.
In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. A celebration of life will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Calvary Baptist Church on Highway 52 west of Versailles.
