Isabel Needy, 77, of Tipton passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at home surrounded by her family.
Isabel was born January 12, 1938, one of 3 girls to Alva and Lela Grace Purdy at their home close to Fortuna, MO.
Isabel married Harry W. Needy on October 1, 1955 and together they worked and made a home raising their family of two sons and two daughters. Isabel and Harry were together for over 40 years before Harry's passing on March 9, 1995.
In her earlier years, Isabel worked in factories and also worked as a waitress in several restaurants. She worked at Four Tree Truck stop in Boonville for several years, and eventually each of her children found various positions of employment there too. They all learned to wash dishes there!
In later years, Isabel became a babysitter to many children, often including a few of her 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and her new great-great-grandchild.
Isabel had a variety of interests besides the love she shared with her growing family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, embroidering and flowers. One of her favorite pass times was watching a NASCAR races on television. She was an avid fan.
Isabel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harry W. Needy, daughter, Penny N. Cox, and sister, Sylvia Vance.
She is survived by sons Harry William Needy, III and Bridget of Tipton; Allen L. Needy and Michelle Roberts of Tipton; daughter Lela I. Libbert and Melvin of Linn, MO; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great,great grandchild.
A graveside service and burial will be held, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10:00 am at the New Lebanon Cemetery, New Lebanon, MO.
Arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer Funeral Home, Tipton.
