Annie Irene Gerlt, age 105, of Stover, died Friday, November 27, 2009, at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was born May 4, 1904, in Little Buffalo, near Stover, a daughter of Amil C. and Bernice Brewer Kreglinger, both deceased She married Jacob Gerlt and he preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker, busy raising and caring for her children.
Survival was at the root of Irene's heart. She provided for her family by raising an abundant garden and canning the bounty so her family would have plenty to eat all year long. She enjoyed being on the farm, where she could tend to her many chickens. She also stayed busy sewing and crocheting.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Stover.
She is survived by a daughter, Mildred "Millie" Vetsch and husband Jimmie of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a son, Ralph Gerlt of Stover; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren and twenty-eight grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Irene was also preceded in death by two sons, Gene and Dwight Gerlt, three brothers, Paul, Theodore and Eugene Kreglinger and three sisters, Cloie Marriott, Lucille Ritchie Smith and Mae Kreglinger.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 30, at the Stover Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Monday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Stover Baptist Church.
