Irene J. Ehlers, age 94, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover.
She was born October 27, 1921 in Stover to Louis and Johanna Fischer Albers. She was confirmed April 9, 1936 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stover.
On August 26, 1950 Irene was united in marriage to Richard Ehlers in a double wedding with Leonard and Joy Brandes Ehlers in Springdale, Arkansas. Richard preceded her in death on November 9, 2013.
As a young woman she worked in Kansas City as a nanny for several families and also worked in a factory. She loved camping with Richard, in their trailer at Warsaw and fishing and spending time at their farm near Stover.
Irene was a member of Christ and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sedalia.
She is survived by four nieces, JoAnn Wyrick of Eldon, Sharon Burns of Sedalia, Lynda Zurmiller of Versailles, and Marsha Miyashiro of Smithton; and one nephew Myron Munsterman of Warrensburg.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister Paula Munsterman, and an infant brother Walter.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Pastor Duane Levin officiating.
Interment will be in the Stover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
