Irene Albin

E. Irene Albin, 99, formerly of Tipton, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore, Missouri. She was one of 9 children born to John Herndon and Martha Virginia Moss in Zora, Missouri.

Irene opened a restaurant in Versailles when she was 19 and operated it for 2 years. After moving to Tipton she opened the Crystal Cafe which she owned and operated from 1941-1942 before closing due to rationing of supplies and gasoline during World War II. On June 4, 1943 she married Harold Francis Albin Sr., and they celebrated their 63 wedding anniversary before his passing. They owned and operated the Tipton Motor Company from 1954 thru 1970 and then she began working at Commerce Bank retiring in 1985. They raised 4 sons during this time and were actively involved in the Tipton community. She was a member of First Christian Church of Tipton. She and Harold enjoyed growing iris and roses in their garden and were members of the American Rose Society in Sedalia entering many flowers in the State Fair annually. She enjoyed making desserts, quilting, and good conversation. She loved her family, her sons' families, and their families, watching each generation grow-up.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2006; brothers Jim and Tom Moss; sisters Molly Shaw and husband John, Ella White and husband Ed, Hazel Brown and husband Henry, Edith Terhune and husband Oliver, Geneva Drake and husband Harold.

Irene is survived by sons Harold F. Albin Jr. and his wife Kathy of Lees Summit, James E. Albin and his wife Donna of Franklin, TN., Charles W. Albin and his wife Janette of Raymore, Ken Albin and his wife Charlene of Springfield, MO; brother Bill Moss and his wife Martha of Springfield, MO; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for E. Irene Albin will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the First Christian Church of Tipton with burial immediately following in Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 AM prior to the funeral service.
