Ila Margaret Taylor James

Ila Margaret James, age 95, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at the Ottawa Retirement Village.
She was born April 28, 1918, in Zora, Missouri a daughter of Lester Wray and Blanche Bates Taylor.
Ila grew up in the Stover area. In the early 1940's she moved to Kansas City, where she raised her two children.
She was a homemaker, busy raising her own family, worked at the Kansas City ammunition plan, caring for other children and cleaning homes in the area.
She moved to Ottawa in 1969, to be near her daughter and help with her grandchildren.
Ila had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. She grew beautiful flowers and enough vegetables to can for the winter months. However, her greatest enjoyment came from being with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Janet Lynn (James) Atchison and Handford Merle Atchison of Ottawa, grandchildren; Allen Duane Carey of Chanute Ks, Melissa Ann (Rybolt) Troutman and Brian Keith Troutman of Fontana Ks, Tamara Janel (Rybolt) Powell and Richard Anthony Powell of Lawrence Ks, Michael Eric Rybolt of Chanute Ks, and Shawn Christopher Rybolt of Chanute Ks, Vincent Patrick McMaster James of Kansas City, MO, 7 great grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ila was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Wray Taylor, Blanche Siotha (Bates) Taylor of Stover Mo, two Sisters Inez Mae (Taylor) Kreglinger of Stover Mo, Mildred Irene (Taylor) Marriott, two brothers, Raymond Eugene Taylor of Stover Mo, Melvin Lester Taylor of Ft. Leavenworth Ks, and son Chester Eugene James of Kansas City Mo.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, August 29, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover with Graveside services to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Stover Cemetery.
