Hettie Myrtle Holliday, age 105, passed away at Lincoln Community Nursing Home Saturday, March 25, 2017.
Hettie was one of six children born near Pilot Grove to Emmett D. and Emma P. Yager on January 21, 1912.
She married George Buster Spry and together they raised two children and lived in Sedalia. Hettie worked as a machine operator for Town and Country Shoe Factory in Sedalia for years. She enjoyed playing all kinds of games including scrabble, pitch and Yahtzee. She was a master at sewing and crocheting, especially the pineapple pattern.
After losing her first husband in the 1980's, Hettie met and married Glenn Holliday in 1992 and enjoyed a fun and sweet companionship with him until his passing. Hettie loved her family and from her point of view, they were the best. Nevertheless, she always reminded them to "be good".
Preceding Hettie in death were her parents; her husbands George and Glenn; three brothers; one sister; son in law Thomas Lilly and her only son, Wayne Spry, who passed away two years ago.
Hettie is survived by her daughter Janis Lilly of Warsaw; sister Francis King of Sedalia; daughter-in-law Beva Spry of Lincoln; grandson Gary W. Spry and his wife Cheryl of Lees Summit; granddaughter Sherry Kent and her husband Kevin who reside in state of California; three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
