Herbert "Buster" Edward Jackson Jr.

July 15, 1932 — May 7, 2016

Herbert Edward Jackson, Jr., ("Buster"), age 83, passed away peacefully at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital, in Columbia, MO, on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
Herbert, the oldest of eight siblings, was born in Syracuse, MO to Herbert, Sr. and Julia M. Jackson. Herb served his Country with honors while enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. Herb served combat time during the Korean Way where he and seven other troops were stationed on top of a mountain. During his military service, Herb received the Korean Service Medal, the United States Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart.
After returning from military service and earning a degree in electronics, Herb started his career in the auto mechanical industry where he worked at Hainen Ford in Tipton, MO for over thirty years, where he retired. He worked under Benny Hainen Sr. and his son, Benny Hainen Jr.
In October 1966, Herb married Alice Lee Fowler of Versailles, MO. They had two children Philip Edward Jackson and Brian Lee Jackson. During the years Herb continued his higher education and eventually earned a masters in psychology from Central Missouri State University. Herb loved to read science fiction novels, watch sports, and spend time with his family.
Herb was preceded in death by Alice in 2015 and Phillip in 1986. He was also proceeded in death by his parents, Herbert and Julia Jackson, four siblings: Donald Jackson, Bobby Jackson, Billy Jackson, and Catherine Collins.
Herbert was a life-long member of Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Tipton, MO where he served in the position of Deacon.
Herbert is survived by his son Brian Jackson of Attleboro, MA, and his sisters Julia Henderson of Grandview, MO, Georgia Williamson of Kansas City, MO Joyce Jackson of Warrensburg, MO and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
Services will be held at the Prairie Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Tipton, MO on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
